Strategy Shift

Two days to get out of the weeds and work ON the business.

A strategic plan isn't necessarily a strategy. Most growing companies have a plan somewhere — a slide deck, a shared doc, a binder, last year's goals with the dates changed. What they don't have is alignment on where the business is actually going and what matters most to get there.

The Strategy Shift is a two-day facilitated strategy experience built for leadership teams that have outgrown the annual planning retreat.

A Strategic Planning Session for Growing, Changing Organizations

Weekly leadership meetings are built for execution, not strategy. That's exactly why the big questions — where are we going, what are we betting on, what are we willing to stop doing — never get answered in them. They get pushed.

We change that in two days.

We step back with your leadership team, challenge the assumptions nobody's tested in a while and work through the strategic questions your weekly cadence was never built to hold. Healthy tension makes strategy better, so expect real debate. By the end, those decisions aren't theoretical. They're what’s next.

Operational discipline doesn't automatically create strategic clarity. A great operating cadence can't compensate for the wrong priorities. If your team is executing well but still isn't sure it's executing on the right things, this is where that gets fixed.

It Starts Before You're in the Room

Every leadership team walks in stuck somewhere different. We don't guess where.

Before the two days, your team completes an Annual Strategy Readiness Assessment, a clear-eyed look at where you're aligned, where you're not, and where the real leverage is. No assumptions, no wasted time on day one re-explaining the business.

That baseline shapes the agenda, so the two days go straight at what actually matters for your leadership team.

Format & Details

Two full days. In person. Your leadership team and one outside strategic facilitator, building the strategic plan together. Because the leadership team should own the strategy, not an outside consultant.

The offsite isn't the finish line. It's the starting line. Teams ready to keep strategy alive year-round move into ongoing Strategy Transformation. There's no required sequence to get here. This is simply the right entry point for teams who've outgrown a one-day reset.

What you'll receive:

Annual Strategy Readiness Assessment (completed before the session)

Two-day in-person strategic planning session

One-page strategic plan, annual priorities and 90-day objectives and key results

Leadership scorecard and execution cadence

Clear ownership across every priority

One of my favorite things about working with GSD is the realness factor. You don’t tell me what I want to hear, you tell me what I need to hear. You ask questions, you just don’t give me an answer.

Questions Leadership Teams Ask Us

  • Strategy Kickstart is one day and built for a reset — quarterly alignment and 90-day momentum. Strategy Shift is two days and goes deeper: a full one-page strategic plan, annual priorities and the scorecard and cadence to run on it. If your team needs more than a reset, start here.

  • It's exactly what it sounds like: the essential strategy of the business on one usable page. It connects long-term direction, annual priorities and quarterly execution — without burying the strategy in a binder nobody opens.

  • No. We facilitate your leadership team in building it. You own the thinking, the decisions and the outcome. Our job is to challenge the thinking and keep the conversation strategic.
  • It's how we skip the small talk. Before the two days, your leadership team completes an assessment that surfaces where you're aligned, where you're not, and where the biggest leverage is. We use it to build an agenda around your actual gaps, not a one-size-fits-all script.

  • Keep what's working. Tools should serve the business, not the other way around. We build the strategic plan alongside your existing systems and bring in what's missing, not a replacement for what's already working.
  • Strategy isn't an annual event. The strategic plan needs a rhythm to stay alive, which is why teams ready for ongoing accountability move into Strategy Transformation — quarterly facilitation that keeps priorities honest all year.
